Campaign Biography

No candidate in this race has Bill Cornell's remarkable background and qualifications and no other candidate is as prepared to begin SERVING in OUR State House.

As Washington Chief of Staff to Congressman Bill Goodling, Bill Cornell not only learned the workings of our federal government, but he also learned the value and importance of SERVING the people and communities being represented.

As Executive Assistant to U.S. Senator John Heinz, Bill Cornell served as the Senator's liaison with PA State Government, local municipalities and the people and businesses of Central Pennsylvania.

Upon earning his law degree from Dickinson, Bill joined a Washington D.C.-based law firm which focused on public policy and government affairs (lobbying). Bill became a named Partner in the firm within three years and went on to successfully represent a variety of clients and organizations in both Harrisburg and Washington for nearly 20 years.

Bill Cornell grew up in a Christian home with parents who were civic-minded Republicans. Bill's father wrote Pennsylvania History and Civics books and Bill was continually instilled with important values and beliefs regarding good government, civic responsibility and the importance of community service.

Even while busy as a successful government affairs specialist in Harrisburg and Washington, Bill became active in his home community and also devoted years to volunteer community service work. Bill has been a volunteer leader of the Board of Directors overseeing the operation of The Pride of the Susquehanna Riverboat and during his first years of Chairman of the Board, Bill Cornell created and oversaw The Susquehanna River School; a novel floating classroom educational program designed to take area kids out on the river and teach them about the History and Environment of our Susquehanna River.

Bill put his legal/government affairs career aside several years ago when his parents simultaneously contracted terminal illnesses so he could devote greater time to their needs during their final days. Bill regards the time and experience of the days he spent with his dying parents and away from government and politics as an important reminder of the need to have good people elected to do good things for others.

Bill Cornell KNOWS the job and responsibilities of an elected member of the Pennsylvania House. Bill Cornell has more than 20 years of experience in knowing how to IMPACT government. Now that his parents have passed, Bill sees himself as qualified, refreshed and ready to SERVE the families and communities of the 88th District without distraction. Many supporting Bill Cornell for OUR State House suggest that Bill Cornell is the only candidate who can start working for us and serving us on his very first day in office.
